Building your Networks to support your Career – East of England (leadershipacademy.nhs.uk) on Thursday 9th December 2.30 to 4pm

Research indicates that men and women create different networks and use them differently, so what can you learn from the gendered approaches? In this masterclass, you will be encouraged to review your networks, what works for you and what challenges you face. In addition, come prepared to examine your answer to the question “what do you do?” and to identify ways to build your networks to support your career.

By the end of the masterclass participants will be able to:

  • Identify who you need in your influential and friendship network, and why
  • Answer the question “what do you do” – without your job title!
  • Why networking is an important part of career progression, the importance of sponsorship (not just mentorship) and how the “tiara syndrome” may hold you back.

Career Confidence Booster & Banishing the Imposter – East of England (leadershipacademy.nhs.uk) on Thursday 11th November 2pm to 3.30

Confidence is an oft misunderstood phenomenon, as we often only notice it when it is lacking. However, for some people a display of confidence can be misinterpreted as arrogance. How do you find the middle ground and indeed should you, particularly when it comes to your career?
But it might not be a lack of confidence which impacts on your career: research indicates that the imposter phenomenon contributes to a reluctance to move jobs (Grubb and McDowell, 2012), reduced career planning and a disinclination to take leadership positions (Neureiter and Traut-Mattausch, 2016, Jöstl et al., 2015). This online masterclass will address some of the beliefs that impact our behaviours and can reduce or enhance our confidence, together with some strategies to banish the imposter chatter.

By the end of the masterclass participants will be able to:

  • Understand which beliefs affect their behaviours and career choices
  • Make changes to their self-talk to boost their confidence
  • Identify a minimum of three strategies to banish, or at least reduce, their imposter chatter.

Realising the Potential of your Impact – East of England (leadershipacademy.nhs.uk) on Wednesday 1st December 9.30 to 11

We all try to be aware of our biases, but human beings are judgemental by nature. So how can you create a favourable impact for yourself with other people? What strategies can you employ to raise your profile? How can you use your impact wisely?

This masterclass will focus on two main areas: your IMPACT (Impression, Morals, Passion, Action, Care and Trust) and the ‘three Vs’ (Verbal, Vocal and Visual) to help you create a favourable impact both in person and online. There will be opportunities to discuss these aspects in more depth in small groups.

By the end of this masterclass participants will be able to:

  • Identify changes they wish to make to their verbal, vocal or visual impression
  • List actions to boost their personal and professional IMPACT
  • Understand the importance of creating an impact in online meetings and presentations and how this differs from face-to-face
