Our GP Trainers

For those considering to build upon their role by becoming a GP Educator click the link for full guidance, including details in regards to approval requirements, education and clinical supervision. We have a number of Training Practices within our region, who have gained approval to support GP Trainees in General Practice.

Portfolio Careers

Fellowship or development schemes are a means to provide a supported 1, 2 or 3 year salaried post immediately after completing specialty training. These posts provide the consolidation of clinical skills within a supportive environment while also offering educational opportunities.

GP development schemes have been implemented successfully in both Bedford and Luton.  While the schemes differ slightly in terms of funded education and length, the central premise has been to offer a programme to attract high calibre GPs to the area to work, learn and live.

Working with our local Training Programme Directors, we are developing a Portfolio Career package which will offer GPs extended placement opportunities, whether that be in a community setting, at a hospice or in secondary care. As part of the VTS scheme, we hope to take year 4 and offer a number of placements for GPs to consider.
