NHS England have launched a new page within their website to assist nurses in finding the right role for them. We are General Practice Nursing sets out to support the nursing workforce in securing new jobs- take a look!
The Nursing and Midwifery Council are the regulator for England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. There is a whole host of resources available to support the nursing workforce. Some key areas to consider are as follows but a full breakdown can be found on the Nursing and Midwifery Council site.
In addition, The Royal College of Nursing is the world’s largest nursing union and professional body. Represent more than 435,000 nurses, student nurses, midwives and health care assistants in the UK and internationally. Useful information and guidance can be found www.rcn.org.uk
Routes into Nursing
Return to Practice Nursing
If you have previously been a registered nurse and wish to return to the profession, then you may need to undertake a return to practice programme. The programme provides a platform to work with other professionals to update your skills and knowledge, so that you can return to work in nursing with confidence.

Revalidation
Revalidation is the new process that all nurses and midwives in the UK will need to follow to maintain their registration with the NMC.
It commenced in April 2016, revalidation is straightforward and will help you as a nurse or midwife demonstrate that you practice safely and effectively. It will encourage you to reflect on the role of the Code in your practice and demonstrate that you are ‘living’ the standards set out within it.
This new process replaces the Prep requirements, and you will have to revalidate every three years to renew your registration. For further guidance, click here.
Mentorship
Across BLMK we are undertaking a piece of work currently to map our nurse mentors across the region, this will then provide us with a local mentor register. If you require an update, you will be able to find a list of future courses being held locally via our Events and Training calendar.

Clinical Supervision
Clinical supervision is an activity that brings skilled supervisors and practitioners together in order to reflect upon their practice. It is a time for you, as a nurse or midwife, to think about your knowledge and skills and how they may be developed to improve care. It has been described as providing education for the nurse and protection for the client.
