Dr Jennifer Sutton, BLMK AHP Faculty Research Lead

Dr. Jennifer Sutton is the new BLMK AHP Faculty Research Lead.  She joined the faculty in December and is delighted to be in such an innovative post with BLMK.  She is an occupational therapist and very proud AHP. Her background is in mental health care, dementia care, primary care and frailty. She started out in research by applying for a NHS Research Occupational Therapist role.  This opened up the opportunity to complete a PhD in Old Age Psychiatry Research.  She later worked as clinical academic, spending 50% of her time working clinically and 50% of her time as a postdoctoral researcher. This experience really allowed her to see the value of research being designed by and led by AHPs – with real world benefits for the services, patients and carers they work with. She is passionate about opening up opportunities for AHPs to engage in and with research, which is why this role is so exciting!
