Advanced Clinical Practice Supported Portfolio Offer

Further cohorts open for expression of interest now and close on 28th september 2022

Health Education England and the Centre for Advancing Practice are currently working to standardise the competencies required at Advanced Clinical Practitioner level.

To enable recognition as an Advanced Clinical Practitioner, an individual needs to be able to demonstrate competence against all 4 pillars of Advanced Clinical Practice, further information on the pillars can be found here https://advanced-practice.hee.nhs.uk/multi-professional-framework-for-advanced-clinical-practice-in-england/

There are a number of routes to becoming recognised by the Centre for Advancing Practice, through an independent portfolio, through accreditation of an existing Advanced Clinical Practice MSc undertaken since 2017 or through a supported portfolio offer.

Expressions of interest for the supported portfolio route can be made via this page ePortfolio (supported) Route – Advanced Practice (hee.nhs.uk) and it is recommended that you read the briefing document before registering your interest.

To be eligible for the supported portfolio route, the individual should be able to demonstrate competency against all 4 pillars or be able to do so within 12 months with the support of 1 funded module delivered by the assigned HEI.

Applicants may come from a variety of clinical backgrounds, may or may not have already undertaken level 7 learning or may be in an Advanced Practice role based on experience only. All are welcome to apply with the only exclusion at the moment being that if an ACP MSc has been undertaken since 2017, recognition will likely be given once the programme has been accredited against the 4 pillars so this route would not be suitable for those individuals. Please see the briefing document for full eligibility for this route.

An information session has been arranged by HEE on 22nd September 12.30 – 14.00 for those considering applying. Please book directly with shraddha.sharma2@cpft.nhs.uk

If you would like to discuss your individual circumstances, please contact Hannah Baker hannah.baker11@nhs.net who can arrange a meeting with the HEE Lead for you.
