Advanced Clinical Practice Supported Portfolio Offer
Health Education England and the Centre for Advancing Practice are currently working to standardise the competencies required at Advanced Clinical Practitioner level.
To enable recognition as an Advanced Clinical Practitioner, an individual needs to be able to demonstrate competence against all 4 pillars of Advanced Clinical Practice, further information on the pillars can be found here https://advanced-practice.hee.nhs.uk/multi-professional-framework-for-advanced-clinical-practice-in-england/
There are a number of routes to becoming recognised by the Centre for Advancing Practice, through an independent portfolio, through accreditation of an existing Advanced Clinical Practice MSc undertaken since 2017 or through a supported portfolio offer.
HEE opened applications on 13th December and they will be closed on 28th January. Applications can be made via this link ePortfolio (supported) Route – Advanced Practice (hee.nhs.uk)
To be eligible for the supported portfolio route, the individual should be able to demonstrate competency against all 4 pillars or be able to do so within 12 months with the support of 1 funded module delivered by the assigned HEI.
Applicants may come from a variety of clinical backgrounds, may or may not have already undertaken level 7 learning or may be in an Advanced Practice role based on experience only. All are welcome to apply with the only exclusion at the moment being that if an ACP MSc has been undertaken since 2017, recognition will likely be given once the programme has been accredited against the 4 pillars so this route would not be suitable for those individuals.
The guidance document below outlines the offer, detailed criteria, process and answers some FAQs.
Places are limited and will be offered on a first come basis. The portal may close early if large numbers of applications are received so we would strongly encourage applicants to apply as soon as possible.
If you would like to discuss your individual circumstances, please contact Hannah Baker email@example.com who can arrange a meeting with the HEE Lead for you.
