A Dietitian in Primary Care can play a crucial role in managing and supporting patients with diet and obesity issues which are often main factors in the etiology of LTCs and nutritional interventions have been identified as key to support patients with conditions such diabetes, hypertension, stroke, heart disease and mental health. They can also support patients to self-manage their conditions.

Dietitians play a crucial role in the education of patients with health promotion and education patients on how they can prevent conditions by adopting healthier eating and drinking habits.

Dietitians can support colleagues within the PCN and make recommendations regarding changes to medications for the nutritional management of patients, based on interpretation of biochemical, physiological, and dietary requirements
