Occupational Therapists

Occupational Therapists (OTs)  can support patients of all ages with a variety of needs including problems resulting from physical, mental, social, or developmental difficulties. The role of the OT is to support patients to identify how they can adapt to be able to continue with everyday activities.

OTs take a holistic approach to each individual patient; managing physical, social, psychological, and environmental needs alongside good clinical practice.

OTs could take the lead on practical support to general practice to manage patients:

•Who are frail, with complex needs
•Who live with chronic physical or mental health conditions
•Who experience anxiety or depression
•Who require advice to return or remain in work
•Who need rehabilitation so they can continue with previous occupations (activities of daily living).
